It’s been a crazy busy couple of weeks (tons of It’s been a crazy busy couple of weeks (tons of shoots + a flu running through our family and then a cat emergency). But I shot the last wedding of my season last weekend, and now will be hunkering down to edit everything asap. Including the sweetest engagement session with these two! R & M were lovely and in love, and super game for me directing them around some iconic SF spots. Including pulling them down onto the beach in a part of Crissy Field I’d never exactly shot from before. They were so trusting and easy to photograph, resulting in some of my favorite shots of them right down at the edge of the water, right as the sun set. Knowing we got the shot as the last rays of perfect light subside is such a great feeling!! #jessamynharrisengagements #crissyfieldengagements #sfengagementphotographer
I photographed @pointreyes_prnsa ‘s “Party On I photographed @pointreyes_prnsa ‘s “Party On The Pacific Plate” fundraiser last weekend, and when these awesome rangers arrived on horseback, I basically squeed like an 8 year old horse girl for 10 minutes. They answered any and all of my questions about the horses, which I didn’t even realize were a part of the park. I learned that this gorgeous lady horse (on the right, named Midnight, I think) is a major ham for the camera and playful flirt - until a boy horse (Gentry, on then left here) shows up. Then she gets annoyed, side eyes the make horse, and isn’t as camera ready or cooperative. I wouldn’t have known the difference without the explanation, but then… I could see it. Subtle personality and expressions exist in all creatures if you look for it! I loved learning that horses can hold weird gender-based grudges. What a rad event this was! A fundraiser for the Point Reyes National Seashore, which is currently focusing on youth outreach, and giving kids from all over the Bay Area the chance to visit. Point Reyes is really one of the most beautiful, special places in california (and actually, Devon & I got engaged on a hike there!), and I’m so grateful to get to help support the cause. You guys, don’t forget - family portraits do not You guys, don’t forget - family portraits do not have to be boring! We’ll get the “everybody look at the camera and smile at the same time” ones, but we’ll also get a ton of candid photos of your kids goofing around. The photos that will remind you of what your kids were actually like at this age, what this season of your family felt like. You’ll ultimately be glad to have photos of not just the smiles and cooperation, but also the tantrums and the dramatics and the giggles and the spilled bubble soap and the cardboard box play (and the chickens). Even screaming diaper changes and a kid’s inability to stop making that one face will be something beautiful to remember and reflect on in a few years (or decades). Trust me on this one.
