These lovely people are our friends and former neighbors. I love this quick family portrait shoot because while we did get the requisite “everyone smile and look at the camera” shots, there are also lots of photos that show the kids’ (and adults’!) personalities. You can see sweet little girl G, who’s unable to hide her ear to ear grin when she’s happy, and needs-a-nap toddler boy C, who is not going to suffer any fools at first, but then warms right up with the right combination of daddy tickles and teases.
It doesn’t hurt that my own beloved girl came along to “assist” me (I paid her with hippy m&ms), and joined in the portraits with her good friend G, and some beautiful flowers that their mama had leftover from the co-op she ran.
I miss this family so much! I grew up without any kid neighbors, several miles out of town, so to have a super-local, same-aged, like-minded little girl Symphony’s age right down on the corner, and her grown up mom for me, was a wonderful gift that I cherished. It was hard to say goodbye when they moved away, but it was so very wonderful to have them so close when they were in the neighborhood. Friends can feel like family.
If you’d like to have some family portraits taken, this is the perfect time of year for it: perfect weather, beautiful warm light with colorful, bright foliage (yes, we do too have seasons in California!). I have a few days left before November, but they’re booking up quickly, so let me know asap!
