Abhishek and Solani came to explore Napa/ Sonoma for their first wedding anniversary, and asked me to capture some of that time so that they could not only relive it (when they were back in freezing Chicago), but also share it with their families in India. I love that part of their reasoning for doing a photo shoot was that they want to share their lives and adventures with faraway loved ones.
We met up for some photographs and tasting at Chateau St Jean in the Sonoma Valley. Every couple is different, of course, but many are not super comfortable in front of the camera at first and need some warming up time (which, ohmygod if you guys saw me in front of the camera, you would all feel a million times better – because I am the most self conscious and awkward person ever! So I totally get it.). But Abhishek and Solani were so happy and relaxed, and the November sun was so bright and lovely, that we didn’t need much of a warming up period at all.
And all of that joy, snuggling, dancing and embracing? That’s not me posing them; I’ll encourage couples to try different gestures and stances, but I try to avoid posing anyone. That’s just how joyful they were together, and it was a delight to photograph.
