The inspiration shoot that Alicia K Designs and I created this summer is up on Green Wedding Shoes! I am also going to be one of GWS’s newest, hand-picked recommended vendors, and since the caliber of the work they feature is so high, I’m very flattered to be a part of it in two different ways!
We knew we wanted to shoot at Campovida, up in Hopland – but it was extra fun to narrow down the many photogenic locations on site to an their antique hops-drying barn. Alicia and her team put together a unique and fabulous design, incorporating the warm wood, raw lightbulbs and metal into bright florals and beautiful place settings. She created a coffee and donut holes favor bar, used air plants and metal ductwork in the table decor, and added just enough design to the barn to give it a glamorous feel, while still honoring the barn’s true history and purpose.
We had additional help from Angela and Amber of Hairspray Beauty Lounge, and our gorgeous model was Stacy, whose 2011 wedding was one of my all time favorites.
The weather was absolutely insanely hot – I think above 110 degrees F in Hopland – but no one melted, everyone stayed cheerful and hard working, and I was able to sneak a swim in the Campovida pool just as the sun set after the shoot wrapped. It was pretty much the best day ever, and makes me fall in love with my job all over again. Thank you, ladies, for all of your kickass, beautiful work!
